Declare to the nations that Jesus is Lord

May we be encouraged and inspired to speak up and out about the hope we have in Christ - while we have breath.

I began writing this article earlier this week. I already had the title and draft saved.

And then Charlie Kirk was ruthlessly killed.

When I saw a friend post this tweet of Charlie’s from four days ago, I was thankful that this young husband and father, this firebrand of conservativism, was a bold witness for Jesus.

“Jesus defeated death so you can live.”

This is what I wrote about the tweet on social media:

When was the last time you confidently posted about your faith in Jesus?

Speak up and out while you are able! Don’t you want people to know the One who offers forgiveness and life after death?

Well done, Charlie. Thank you for your bold witness.

And then I watched as that post accumulated “likes” but people did not post about their own faith in Jesus.

And now, here is the drafted post I’d been preparing:

Educate yourself. The time for ignorance is past.

God is mightily at work in our world today! Stop and do a Google search. Ask ChatGPT. It’s not just Gen Z. People everywhere are seeking and finding salvation in Christ Jesus.

The nations are converting to Christianity. Where cathedrals and churches were silent and shuttered, there is praise in the streets and prayer in homes.

Where to start in your search?

Start by reading Psalm 96. There, you’ll re-discover the joy and privilege and wonder of declaring, of telling, of proclaiming – with joy and confidence – the praises of God.

“Declare his glory among the nations, His wondrous works among all peoples.” (Psalms 96:3)

Read John 3:16-17 with new eyes. Savor its truth. The God we proclaim from Psalm 96 loves you so much that He sent Jesus.

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Then read Matthew 28:18-20. Accept it both as a command and a privilege. Resolve to personally enter the mission of the Master. Make disciples.

“All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Gen Z is worshipping. The nations are praying. The streets are filling.

Surely you can post about Jesus! Publicly proclaim your faith and belief that Jesus is Lord. Share your gratitude for your salvation! Declare His praises.

If you’re silent much longer, you’ll be embarrassed as more and more people the world over shrug off their shyness, their hesitance and their former intimidation and praise the name of Jesus.

2000 years ago, the Pharisees attempted to intimidate Jesus and His disciples into staying silent. Don’t let modern-day Pharisees steal your voice. Jesus told those bullies then:

“I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out.” (Luke 19:40)

Go now. Find out for yourself just some of the ways God is moving around the world:

Type in these phrases to begin your own research:

  • Type in “Christian revival” on X and look at the top posts.
  • Growth of Christianity
  • Operation World Christianity growth
  • Global religion demographic projections Pew
  • Christianity conversion rates worldwide
  • Religious trends and Christianity sociology study
  • For the most trusted research, Pew Research Center, Gordon-Conwell’s Center for the Study of Global Christianity, and World Christian Database are usually considered the most reliable sources.

“Therefore, everyone who will acknowledge me before others, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32-33)

What does that mean? It is a sober warning to any who would claim Christ but not proclaim Christ. If we are ashamed to publicly and joyfully declare Jesus as our Savior, it reveals a heart problem. Do we think our reputation more important than His?

“For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and that of the Father and the holy angels.” (Luke 9:26)

And back to Charlie…

The news was horrific. I’m sad. I followed and appreciated Charlie’s unique ability to debate with respect and speak truth into the darkness.

Yet what made Charlie great was not his platform or his personality. What made Charlie great was his surrender to Jesus. His bold witness should be a catalyst for all of us who are hesitant to share our faith or to happily post that “Jesus is Lord.”

May we be provoked to witness while we can!

May lives be changed as we invite people with loving urgency to trust in Christ, in whom there is forgiveness of sins for all who call upon Him! 1

Amen, Jeff! May we all be bold and courageous to proclaim Jesus is Lord, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved!!! Jesus is the way to truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Him. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved!!!! Glory to God.
