The Roundup: J6 Tapes Edition
With the election of Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House, a promise to conservatives to release the 40k+ hours of J6 videos is happening. Conservatives promise it will be a dramatic narrative change.
D.C. is a fount of activity these days after Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was “fired” under the leadership of conservative upstart Matt Gaetz.
After fits and tantrums, the Republicans finally elected Mike Johnson of Louisiana as Speaker.
To get an idea of why it all happened, watch this:
This weekend, Johnson began to fulfill what McCarthy promised but apparently never meant to follow through on – release over 40,000 hours of J6 tapes from all kinds of angles and views. It is undermining the Left’s narrative of the “insurrection” of January 6, 2020.

At least one Republican leader spoke hyperbolically when he said:

What do the tapes show?
So many have been frustrated at the inaction by elected leaders who promise “to get to the bottom of this,” only to appear to be submerged in the swamp themselves. Their professed intentions never materialize, and no one is held accountable for the buffoonery of the past.
Millions now know the truth about Covid. And….nothing.
People are dying because of the vaccines and….nothing.
The nation knows Russia-collusion was a seditious conspiracy to undermine a legally elected President.

Jan 6 defendants have long argued that the initial entrants were peaceably escorted into the building by Capitol Police, and therefore had no reasonable expectation that their conduct was unlawful

I don’t dispute that hotheads were present, that the day was traumatic for many, that injuries and death occurred.
