My mom worked as an elementary school librarian. [1]Check my tribute to her in Ode to a Librarian. She retired from that position at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. In fourth grade, I entered a book slogan competition for the library. I got second place with the amazing tag of:

“Books! Check them out!”

Yeah, I know. Inspiring, right? I’m still convinced I should have won, but since my mom was the librarian, she was in a bind and couldn’t award first place to her son. I think she was spineless. I’ve since turned another page in life and gotten over it. That was a chapter in my story I’ve moved on from.

Yet the damage was done, or should I say, blessing. You see, both my parents were avid readers. Books were always a thing at my house. I grew up with a love for reading.

So here’s a question for you:

What books most shaped or impacted you? (leave your reply!)

Here are three for me that come to mind:

  1. Desiring God, by John Piper
  2. Experiencing God, by Henry Blackaby
  3. Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis
