I’m a movie person. I have no idea how B.J. Novak’s (think Ryan on The Office) new movie, Vengeance slipped under the radar.
It’s FANTASTIC. It’s set in West Texas, and it tracks a journalist/podcaster as he unravels a girl’s death. It’s warm. It’s funny. Its commentary along the way about society is profound (including why Texans love Whataburger). Rent it today on Amazon.

I’m not sure how I felt about the ending, but it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

I’m going to avoid all spoilers here… I’m not used to seeing movies that are so fair and honest. There were definitely sociological and philosophical critiques, but it was done in a way that encourages everyone to look at the issues from every angle. While simultaneously gently mocking people who think they have the answers and those who want to belittle people on the other sides. I also loved how it revealed the best and worst of Southern Culture with humor. I laughed out loud several times. Also, those monologues by Ashton Kutcher’s character were amazing! The monologues were amazing. Inspiring. I would love to read them in print. No spoilers here either, but the parking lot speeches made me deeply think about perspectives.
