Everyone is playing the identification game these days. It was just a few minutes ago that we were more worried about cases of "stolen" identity. Now, we're all in a tizzy about the identities we claim. But who has the right to declare our identities and keep them safe?

Need renewal?

This post features the media links - Youtube and podcasts - to a sermon series I preached in January 2022 about "renewal." I rarely post here about sermons I've preached, but the response and impact of this series upon me and our church was special. My hope is that God uses it in your life to bring spiritual renewal.

No love? No worth.

Whatever we may call it, love is not love if it's not accompanied by behavior that reflects self-emptying. Our culture wants love without limits and without truth. We're shown another way in Paul's 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians.

The way out of affliction

Psalm 119 is not just known for being the longest Psalm. Weighing in at 176 verses, it's a beautiful masterpiece highlighting the wonder of what God's Word is and what mediating on its truths can do for you. One of the benefits is the power of helping you through affliction.

Paul and Timothy

In Philippians 2:19-24, it appears that the apostle Paul has nothing to teach us. It's just commentary about sending Timothy to the church at Philippi. But there's so much here to encourage us!

A thirsty soul

Thirst is a good thing. Our need to drink reminds us that we are not self-sufficient. On a spiritual level, do you grasp that your *soul* was also created to thirst? Psalm 42 has some wonderful imagery about how to quench your deepest longings.
