In every organization, family and gathering of humans, there are always some who… whatever. There’s always some who spoil it for everyone. There’s always some who hurt some. And there are some that give the rest of us a bad name. Right? That’s normal? But what happens when it's the church?

First Easter in church

After 18 years as nomads, our church family celebrated moving into its first church facility on Easter weekend! It's surreal to have your own "place." Here are a few thoughts from moving in.

Celebrating sabbatical

The main thing I wanted to do with this post is simply to celebrate. I did it! I took a sabbatical. It wasn’t perfectly executed, and it didn’t involve elaborate planning or expensive travel to exotic locations. It was simply a restful, relaxing, enjoyable, reflective, reading, and slow-paced life parenthesis.

A note to churches: insist on sabbatical

Churches, insist on sabbaticals. Ministers and members may discover that they love the season of sabbatical and the lessons learned during it as much as they enjoy being served by a refreshed leader post-sabbatical.
