Book Review: Spiritual Depression by Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones
This was a wonderful read. “Spiritual Depression” is an unfortunate title which may dissuade some from reading it (although they may nod in recognition of that being the state of their soul). No one likes to carry around a book which seems to scream, “I have a problem!”
I would suggest another title: How to Live in Exultant Joy: Identify and Conquer the 20 Most Common Hindrances to Exuberant, Abundant and Obedient Living.
Get this book. Give this book as a gift. Don’t be put off by its use of the KJV. It’s a tremendous read which will usher you chapter by chapter into deeper joy. It unrelentingly leads you to Philippians 4:13 in the final chapter, where Lloyd-Jones renders his own interpretation: “I am strong for all things in the One who constantly infuses His strength into me.”
